Sonia Klein, born on 2 February 1936; fled to France with her family after the German invasion of Luxembourg; the family took refuge in Nice but were arrested on 18 February 1944; transferred to the Drancy concentration camp (Paris); deported on 7 March 1944 with convoy no. 69 from Drancy to the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp; probably murdered with her mother in a gas chamber upon arrival on 10 March 1944.

Jacqueline Wolff, born on 15 March 1933; fled to Belgium with her family and found refuge in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, near Brussels; arrested and then deported on 31 July 1943 with transport no. XXI from Malines (Belgium) to the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp; probably murdered with her mother in a gas chamber upon arrival on 2 August 1943.

René Szczupak, born on 30 March 1924; fled to France on the day of the German invasion, 10 May 1940; joined the ranks of the maquisards of the ‘Secret Army’ (Armée secrète) in Corrèze; died in action on 17 August 1944 in Neuvic (Corrèze). René Szczupak was awarded the distinction ‘Mort pour la France’ (Died for France); his name is inscribed on the ‘Monument aux Morts’ (War Memorial) and on the ‘Monument commémoratif aux Résistants et maquisards’ (Memorial to Resistance fighters and maquisards) in Neuvic.

Leo Abelis, born on 15 October 1924; assigned to forced labour on the Eifel Autobahn in Greimerath, Germany on 4 September 1941; deported from occupied Luxembourg with transport no. 1 on 16/17 October 1941 to the Litzmannstadt ghetto in Lodz, occupied Poland; died in the ghetto on 2 November 1942 allegedly from typhoid fever.

Bernard Herrmann, born on 19 January 1923; after Jewish pupils were excluded from public and private schools, Bernard worked as a teacher in the Jewish school until he was deported; deported from occupied Luxembourg with transport no. 1 on 16/17 October 1941 to the Litzmannstadt ghetto in Lodz, occupied Poland; forced labourer in the ghetto; murdered in the Chelmno extermination camp around 23 June 1944.

Gitla Cukier, born on 6 March 1924; deported from occupied Luxembourg with transport no. 1 on 16/17 October 1941 to the Litzmannstadt ghetto in Lodz, occupied Poland; forced labourer in the ghetto; deported from the Litzmannstadt ghetto to Auschwitz; forced labourer in Auschwitz; murdered in a gas chamber probably on 13 October 1944.

Halina Jad, born on 6 April 1922; after Jewish pupils were excluded from public and private schools, Halina worked as a teacher in the Jewish school until it closed; on 11 August 1942, forced transfer to the Cinqfontaines camp in the north of Luxembourg; deported from occupied Luxembourg with transport no. 6 on 6/7 April 1943 to the Theresienstadt ghetto in Czechoslovakia; deported from Theresienstadt to Auschwitz on 6 September 1943; murdered around 9 March 1944 in the gas chambers of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
